Buster Keaton in 'The General'
The thrills and spills of this romantic comedy are perfect for an afternoon matinee. Buster Keaton's silent movie masterpiece was made in 1926 and centres on his two great loves... his gal (Annabelle Lee) and his locomotive (the General). For this special showing we have invited Donald MacKenzie, resident organist at the Odeon in Leicester Square, to provide the live and improvised organ accompaniment on Portico's restored pipe organ. A fully immersive treat for the whole family!
Donald MacKenzie
Donald has broadcast on BBC Radios 2, 3, 4 and the World Service and featured on a number of television programmes and Royal Film Performances. His overseas concert appearances have included - in Poland at the Bielsko Biala Bach Festival, in Philadelphia (USA) at the Wanamaker Store and Girard College, in Holland for the Nederland’s Orgel Federation and several times in Germany playing the Moller organ in the music hall of the world famous organ building firm of August Laukhuff.
