What is Our Siren Song?

Our Siren Song is Beat Carnival's dynamic initiative centered on the Ards Peninsula and extending to other parts of Northern Ireland. This project beautifully weaves together artistic expression and environmental awareness, creating a powerful call to action for our coastal communities.

Portico's Special Involvement

We're delighted to share that Portico has been actively participating in rehearsals to learn the wonderful "Our Siren Song," composed by Anne Harper. Our Early Birds choir has been immersed in the creative process, working together to bring this meaningful piece to life for the upcoming celebrations.

Open Rehearsal for the big Siren Song Choir, St Patrick’s Church Hall, Millisle

25th April 2025, 19:00—20:30

Opportunity for individuals to join the 100 strong choir for Our Siren Song. On Friday 25th April, learn the song with composer Anne Harper. Words and music will be available online to aid learning.

Willow Fish Making, at Portaferry Market House  2nd May 2025, 14:00—16:00

Join artists Anne-Marie and Fionnuala for a relaxed, hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to make your very own 3D willow fish!

Roots of Resistance: The Story of our Revolutionary Woodlands  2 May 2025, 18:30—20:00

Join Greg Sachno to explore how our native woodlands have long been spaces of refuge, resistance, and radical thought—from ancient druids to modern climate activists.

Our Siren sets off... Tuesday 13th May 

Afternoon: guided walk. Evening event: Our Siren Sets Off! An event with celebratory song and flourish of silk pennants, sees our Siren set off on a journey through the Peninsula villages, to sing her song at the Millisle finale on Saturday 17th.

This celebration will showcase the creativity and environmental commitment of our community through performances, art installations, and interactive experiences.
